This means that the following objectives are generally considered desirable. We, on the other hand, consider them to be more than simply desirable. We understand them to be a necessity and they constitute the strict minimum. As such, in accordance with our methods, we feel that proclaiming their importance is insufficient. They must become an integral, foundational part of the new socioeconomic structure.

The primary objectives below are ambitious, certainly, but they are technically achievable if we collectively decide so. What’s more, they transcend the notions that have artificially divided humans precisely because they are anchored into our collective reality; they are bio-psycho-social imperatives to which most, on some level, can subscribe.

When we consider our current situation, we are perfectly aware that these propositions might seem difficult, or even impossible to implement. It does seem like we are light-years away from such an existence. The concretisation of this evolution must first be socially approved. Ultimately, this step is the hardest and longest because of the fear, the habits, and the engrained ways of thinking, but also because of the time required for the exchange of ideas, the discussions, and the awareness-raising. Once this crucial step has been taken, we will rapidly make great leaps forward by rowing together in the same direction.

These are our primary objectives:

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_accordion use_icon_font_size=”on” icon_font_size=”30px” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_accordion_item title=”1. Universal access to a new sustainable and intelligently designed city landscape: allowing nature to reclaim its place.” open=”on” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”]

These new cities are going to be self-sustaining, intelligently designed, with automated maintenance, safe, eventually self-building, eco-friendly, spacious, and interconnected with the other cities. Within it, people will have access to all the amenities that are available. As the advantages of living there become apparent, the old and inefficient cities will eventually be completely (and voluntarily) abandoned. In-between cities, the land will, in the long run, be reverted back to its original state, allowing nature to reclaim its place and purpose.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”2. Universal access to rapid, clean and efficient transportation: clean energy.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

Transportation within the cities will be integrated and mostly above ground on a quiet magnetic rail system or the like. Fossil fuels will be eliminated from the transportation sector altogether. For long distance travel, many options are becoming available such as high-speed magnetic trains, which are safe, fast, and expend little energy compared to conventional long distance transportation methods. Other methods of transportation for individuals are going to be accessible (boats, cars, etc.), as needed. To power our transportation and city systems, there are many clean and renewable methods available; solar, wind, geothermal, wave, tidal, and eventually possibly even fusion, to name a few.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”3. Universal access to nutritious foods, clean air and water.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

As part of our proposal to implement self-sustaining city systems, food and water security becomes paramount. We will employ innovative ways to automate food production, such as fully enclosed vertical farm systems that use aquaponics and other such techniques. This will eliminate the need for herbicides and pesticides, it will save on water usage, it will produce highly nutritious foods, while also providing a surplus which will be stored for long term security or for emergencies. We will also develop ways to provide clean air and water for the population. Again, many solutions are already in existence but are often neglected due to monetary constraints. Perhaps nanotechnology will eventually play a role.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”4. Universal access to material abundance: redesigning industry, a sharing economy.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

Achieving material abundance without destroying the planet in the process requires that we be smart about the way we organize and manage our finite resources. Whether we are talking about the usual household appliances or more specialized items, the product in question has to be built to last. With the profit-motive priority gone, along with the cost-cutting practices associated with it, this will be easier to achieve than it is now. Also, products will be of the best quality possible and updatable as the technology progresses. When the product reaches a point where it is simply obsolete, recyclability becomes a necessary attribute. Next, when it comes to having access to a product like a boat or a vehicle, access rather than ownership becomes the norm. What that essentially means is that you use the product for as long as you need it, but when you are done with it, it becomes available for others, instead of becoming a useless waste of space around your house. Access to reliable and fast communication methods are also part of this objective (internet for example). Generally speaking, supply will meet demand thanks to the automated management of production in real-time. Regular surveys can also be employed. Production, being also fully automated, will rapidly adjust to an increase in demand. Bourgeoning technologies such as 3D printers come to mind when it comes to producing locally; perhaps even atomically precise manufacturing.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”5. Universal access to a relevant education: problem solvers, generalists, specialists.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

Education will have to change fundamentally. It will have to adapt to the new reality. Curiosity will be encouraged, learning will not be associated with stress, and people will become lifelong learners. Though becoming an expert in a particular field will be possible, this will not be done to the detriment of solid foundational knowledge such as the different city systems, the environment, etc. In other words, a good majority of people will be generalists with an expertise in a particular field of their interest. Education in any field will be engaging, hands-on, meaningful, cooperative, and will involve problem-solving abilities and teach outstanding communication skills. Time constraints, performance pressures, homework, standardized tests, and grades in whatever form will disappear. Furthermore, children will be taught very young to develop critical thinking and analytical skills, and a healthy skepticism, rather than gullibility or excessive skepticism. Once again, technology will assist teachers, parents, family members, and members of the community with the education of the children. Class sizes will be as small as possible. Children will be taught to understand that society needs their help; society needs their input in solving the different human problems. This will allow them to feel integrated and needed. Cooperation will be an integral part of the learning experience. Free education will allow those interested to pursue their studies for as long as they wish. Knowledge should be considered as a heritage to be shared freely.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”6. Universal access to world-class healthcare: prevention and healthy lifestyles.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

It goes without saying that prevention and healthy habits will be within everyone’s reach. This, in and of itself, will improve the overall health of society. Also, living at a normal pace, contrary to today’s overly accelerated pace, will tend to decrease stress levels, making for a saner and healthier disposition. Many stressors, notably those related to financial security, which ranks among the most common nowadays, will eventually be gone. As for actual treatments, surgeries, medication, and other medical procedures, they will have undergone the same kind of automation that other occupations have, although a human side will remain present in some form or another. A database of symptoms, pictures, and other diagnostic material will be compiled to include the working knowledge of all doctors and researchers. Technological developments in that particular field are already here and are accelerating. Artificial intelligence will certainly play a role.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”7. Universal access to an environment free from war: bridging the differences, and techno-scientific peacemaking.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

While the education and the cooperative context within Canada will make war generally anathema to most of us, the rest of the world will continue to be, for a time at least, attached to values that stem from a competitive context. Situations of economic and currency warfare, Nation stratification and domination, poverty, geopolitical strategies, differential advantages, resource theft, and ultimately violence, will not disappear overnight. We find the spores of war in competition. Canada does not exist in a vacuum; we are therefore linked to other countries. We are on the same planet and ultimately share the same fate. We are all human and for each suffering individual, there is a profound moral cost to account for if we do not act to end that suffering when we can, wherever it be. The great Canadian transition would obviously welcome the support of the international community. The success of this transition would impose upon us new responsibilities. Populations that wish to undergo such a transition peacefully could certainly count on our assistance. Helping countries in need would sometimes involve going there to share our methods, knowledge and tools in order to improve the lives of the people living there. Being all on the same planet, it is imperative that we continue our peaceful involvement with the international community in order to promote a safe and humane planetary environment.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”8. Universal access to individual freedom: aspirations, endeavours, self-improvement.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

In a world of access, a person will be given all the tools, knowledge, and materials needed for accomplishing his endeavours. For instance, a simplified example would look like this. If someone likes to build different chairs, that person will have access to whatever he needs to master that task. The attributes of the things created can be stored digitally in order for others to have it replicated at a local production facility. Therefore, becoming a contributor to society will be within everyone’s reach. “Work” as we know it today will not exist. Eventually, if someone decides to live a life of simple leisure, so be it. However, such cases, aside from being of no harm to anyone anymore, will be excessively rare. Human curiosity, our many challenges, and our desire for progress will not disappear; on the contrary, we will have such an assortment of tools and methods at our disposal that together, voluntarily, we will be drawn to participate and contribute to a system that offers us so much. To that end, a complete list of the contemporary social problems in need of attention could be established to help orient people according to their personal preferences so that they can join a multidisciplinary team working to solve the problem. Contributors in a particular field could choose to be called upon in the event that a new problem arises and needs their experienced input. For example, someone that has participated in solving a problem related to the energy efficiency of a household product could choose to be automatically invited to join a team that works on improving another product.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”9. Universal access to human unity: cooperation and trust, functional conformity and individuality.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

Humans are very social by nature. Within a cooperative environment, we will be able to bond more freely, trust more openly, and conform more easily to ways and behaviors that are socially functional. For instance, respecting others and showing empathy are both good examples of the kind of conformity that will be common. It is important to distinguish functional, thoughtful, and universal conformity, from divisive, blind and debilitating conformity. At the same time, seeing how we are all different in our own way, individuality will also be celebrated and encouraged. Diversity is part of our great strengths.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”10. Universal access to an environment where stress and crime decrease substantially: a potentially crimeless environment.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

We expect a significant reduction in crime. An innumerable amount of laws will effectively be rendered obsolete as people acclimate to the new socioeconomic context. Crime may even eventually become a thing of the past. Although this seems utopian, like much of what has been described so far, we need to consider the new social context before jumping to that conclusion. A good part of our behaviors is shaped by our environment. And that new environment will be one where we see others as collaborators, where stress is low, where general happiness is high, where we have access abundance, where our goals are important and meaningful, and where education has given us outstanding communication skills. General crimes will wither in such an environment.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”11. Universal access to a world where there is a profound comprehension that environmental concerns are intimately tied to human concerns.” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]

The world that we inhabit is finite. The resources have to be strategically preserved. A corollary to the finite nature of our resources is the fact that there is a technical limit to the amount of people they can sustain. Although we are nowhere near earth’s maximum carrying capacity, it is a concept that deserves some attention. Population stability is something that seems to occur naturally when the living conditions are optimal. Conversely, we see overpopulation occurring when conditions of poverty, poor education, and lack of access to contraceptives are endemic. Overpopulation puts a strain on the natural and social environments. For sustainability’s sake, there has to be equilibrium between the number of humans on Earth and the amount of resources available. This isn’t about coercive population control. On the contrary, it’s about recognizing the importance of improving the living conditions of everyone in order to exist in equilibrium with the available resources. In other words, coercion is not a feasible/desirable method but awareness-raising is. Quantities aside, quality is also an important factor. We need room to breathe. It is clear that a pristine ecological environment will allow us to grow well. We depend upon healthy forests, lakes, and rivers. We need quality air. We must devote all necessary means to transform the current system in such a way that human’s will not be placed in a position where they must choose their economic wellbeing over their physical, social, or ecological wellbeing.

[/et_pb_accordion_item][/et_pb_accordion][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ admin_label=”Objectifs” _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”] The objectives [/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.6.1″ _module_preset=”default”] The objectives that we propose have been selected primarily for their universal applicability.
